Open Mind Fiesta 2010!

Sunday October 17, 2010
11am - 5pm
Station Street, Fairfield

Open Mind Fiesta 2009 drew a crowd of 40,000 people to Fairfield’s Station Street. 2010's fun filled event is expected to top that.

The theme of this year's Mental Health Week is that when mental illness affects one family member, it affects us all.

So, what better way to cap off the week than with an event that brings the whole family together to celebrate social inclusion for people with a mental illness and their families?

This year the Open Mind Fiesta will be held on Sunday 17th October 11.00am - 5.00pm at the culmination of a busy week of local events and participation for Mental Health Week.

The Open Mind Fiesta is run in partnership with the Fairfield Traders Association.

What's On

Some of the activities planned for this year's Fiesta are:

  • "Social Circus" – the National Institute of Circus Arts will create a social circus on the street with participants who have taken part in workshops prior to the Fiesta.
  • "Get out there!" - games and activities plus information about nutrition and exercise.
  • "Mental Mural" - providing hands on participation in painting and production of an acrylic mural.
  • "Relaxation Retreat" - pleasures of different kinds including massage and reflexology, emphasising the need for self care.
  • "Physical wellbeing" – active involvement, exercise, games encouraging people to ‘come and try’, and have fun.
  • "MI Fellowship information" – find out all about what we do and the programs we run.
  • "Making connections" – Carer Quilting Marquee, offering participation in the production of a carers quilt.
  • "Shape It" Mosaics and Clay Modelling – offering clay modelling activities (individually created items to be fired later by Northcote Pottery and available for collection); and the production of a mosaic mural.
